Live La Dolce Vita

The Fratelli Aprea Family has been hand-crafting their elegant “Gozzo Sorrentino” style boats for over 130 years.

Six generations of boat building in the picturesque seaside town of Sorrento, Italy, has led to an impressive reputation of unmatched quality and an extensive résumé of world-famous clients. In the beginning, the Aprea Family’s “gozzo” boats were renowned for their supreme construction and legendary seaworthiness. After many generations and careful refinement, they have evolved from hallowed working vessels into the mahogany clad icons of Mediterranean style and luxury we know today. For the first time in their 130+ year history, Fratelli Aprea’s special watercraft are now available in North America.

After two years working with the AYBC (American Yacht and Boat Council), the NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association), and US maritime engineers, now available through Fratelli Aprea USA is the timeless Sorrento 32 Hardtop(HT). With a dry weight of 9,900lbs, this 32-foot boat is built to handle the open seas and Great Lakes with ease. Riding on a 13’ beam, these legendary Aprea semi-displacement boats are constructed with mahogany and iroko sub structure and keel, enveloped in a completely hand laid, heavy duty fiberglass hull. The dramatic and functional bow flare typical of the “Gozzo Sorrentino” lends itself to a very dry and stable ride in all water conditions. Powered by twin Volvo Penta D4-320 diesels, the Sorrento 32HT cruises at 18 knots and can reach speeds of 30 knots.

Gilded in the finest of hand selected mahogany brightwork, The Sorrento 32HT is perfectly appointed for a day cruise with the family, or an extended voyage for the adventuring couple. Only the most exquisite woods, finishes, fittings, and fabrics are utilized on a Fratelli Aprea build. Even while at rest in port, these floating pieces of art make a statement in any marina. This example is shown with satin mahogany, polished teak, and select Italian fabrics. Hand hammered sinks grace the galley and full stand-up head. The 32HT has a forward master cabin along with a convertible salon table and seating area to accommodate additional overnight guests. The spacious decks of hand laid Burmese teak provide airy entertaining opportunities, as well as ample area to soak up the sun. A large foredeck couch, retractable sun-shades, and full cushions promote maximum comfort. An extended teak swim platform and easy-access aft boarding door give the Sorrento 32HT incredible flexibility for all who are lucky enough to step aboard.

“We are excited to be building boats specifically for the North American Market,” said M.A. Sinacola II, president of Fratelli Aprea USA. “Even though our shipyard is here in Italy, these special boats bound for North America are built to exceed the standards of construction, component selection, and compliance for the USA; which translates to ease of ownership, operation, and maintenance for our new American clientele.”
